Provisional insurance explained

Provisional insurance explained

Dayinsure Learner provides insurance that:

·         is comprehensive and underwritten by Aviva, the biggest insurance company in the UK and the 6th largest worldwide

·         has an excess of £250 - this means you have to pay the first £250 of any claim – even if the claim is not your fault

·         covers you to drive the named vehicle, between the hours of 6am and 10pm PROVIDED you are accompanied by a suitably qualified driver

·         can only be bought online on this site – we do have a helpdesk for technical queries (0845 450 6615) but please note that policies can NOT be bought over the phone

·         can be bought for either 30, 60 or 90 days, but which ceases to provide any cover as soon as you pass your driving test

·         only works when bought alongside an existing annual insurance policy on the car in question

·         is backed up by Aviva’s award winning claims service

Our insurance may be for you if:

·         You don’t own your own car

·         You want to learn to drive in someone else’s car : and you have their permission

·         The car you want to practice driving in is already insured on an annual policy (but you are not a named driver on that policy)

·         You have a provisional licence

·         You haven’t passed your driving test

·         You’re aged 17 or over

Our insurance will NOT be for you if:

·         You’ve already passed your driving test

·         You own your own car

·         The car you want to drive does not have an annual insurance policy covering it

·         The car you intend to drive is in a police compound

·         You want to drive between the hours of 10 at night and 6 in the morning

·         You have had previous claims or convictions

What do you need to buy our insurance?

·         Your provisional licence number

·         A credit or debit card - this doesn’t have to be your own – using eg a parent’s is fine : with their permission

·         An email address so we can send your insurance certificate and documents

·         The name of the insurance company providing the annual cover on the car, and their policy number

What happens if you buy your insurance and then pass your test?

·         All cover under our policy ends immediately

·         You are entitled to a refund of any un-used premium after the first month, subject to a £20 admin charge
